Nayanthara responded to the removal of her film, "Annapoorani," from Netflix due to
allegations of hurting sentiments. The movie, centred on an ambitious woman from a
traditional background, faced criticism for allegedly offending religious sentiments.
Nayanthara, expressing regret, clarified that the film aimed to convey a positive
message and that unintentional hurt had occurred. An FIR was filed against the film,
prompting an apology from Zee Studios to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The film's
removal from the OTT platform was announced until edits addressing the concerns
were made. Nayanthara emphasised her commitment to spreading positivity through
her film career. "Annapoorani" explores the conflict faced by an ambitious woman torn
between pursuing her passion and adhering to orthodox values.
