SaxaVord Spaceport on Unst has secured the UK's first license for a vertical rocket launch, granted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Owned by Frank and Debbie Strong, the spaceport, licensed for up to 30 launches annually, meets safety and environmental standards.
Launches are set to begin in 2024, with two German companies planning operations.
The CAA sees this as a pivotal moment for the UK space sector, emphasizing safety and sustainability.
The Strongs, proud of the historic achievement, envision additional developments,
including a hotel and visitor centre at SaxaVord.
